Affirmations should be one of the cornerstones of any attempt at
self-improvement you are trying to make in your life. When used
correctly, they can reprogram your mind and help you to succeed.
Creating the thoughts, emotions and actions you need to realize
your goals can be as simple as repeating an affirmation that resonates
with you at the core level of your being.
Many folks phrase their affirmations wrongly and dont realize
it. Could you be one of them?
Affirmations need to be stated in the present tense, positively,
with feeling and they have to be believable. For example, your affirmation
should state, "I am financially independent," as opposed
to, "I dont want to be poor."
Normally, you need to repeat "I am financially independent"
several times a day, write it down, visualize it and feel it as
if it has already happened. Over time, by consistently working with
your affirmation you will start attracting the conditions, attitudes,
people and behaviors that will create this reality for you.
However, as you repeat, "I am financially independent,"
you are probably experiencing some doubt. You can see you arent
financially independent (after all, you dont have the $50,000
you want in the bank, the house of your dreams or the latest and
greatest gadget, etc.) So even though you are consistently stating
this positive phrase over and over, you may be feeling pretty negative
towards yourself and the whole process.
Most folks stop using affirmations fairly quickly because they
dont see much progress towards their goal and either feel
silly or feel like they are lying to themselves by pretending something
that isnt true. However, its the mood they're in when
they are stating their affirmation that messes up the process not
the affirmations themselves.
Emotions are an incredibly important part of working with affirmations.
Removing any doubt from your mind is vital. There are a few phrases
you can use to modify your affirmations to make them more believable.
By using these phrases you can remove doubt from your mind, create
more positive emotions within yourself and produce more reliable
and faster results.
The first of these phrases is "I am becoming..."
so instead of repeating "I am financially independent,"
you would state, "I am becoming financially independent."
Adding the word "becoming" to your affirmation will help
remove doubt from the equation. Although your conscious and subconscious
mind can easily ridicule the notion that you are financially independent
when you clearly arent, they cannot argue with the suggestion
that you are "becoming" financially independent.
The use of the modifier "becoming" allows your mind and
emotions to easily accept this modified affirmation and as a result
makes it more powerful.
Another way to modify affirmations is to add the phrase "I
am in the process of..." to begin your affirmation.
"I am in the process of attracting the perfect career."
"I am in the process of creating a successful online business."
"I am in the process of becoming financially independent."
A third phrase to modify your affirmations to make them more believable
to yourself is to use the words, "I choose..."
instead of, "I am..." when stating your affirmations.
"I choose to be/become financially independent."
"I choose to be/become fit and healthy."
"I choose to be/become a great public speaker."
Using any one of these three modifiers will help you more readily
accept your affirmations as true. Doing this will increase the power
of your positive feelings, which will increase the power of your
affirmations, which will help you to bring them into your reality
sooner rather than later. How great is that!
